Sometime this year when the weather is just right, Dave will be taking Saltydog from Panama to its ultimate destination in the West Indies. That's a long 1200 mile trip. Melissa will be somewhere else. Anywhere else.
Meanwhile, Dave wants to make sure that everything aboard Saltydog is ship shape for the long voyage. And Saltydog is a seaworthy ship to be sure. But like any boat, there are a few things that need fixing. Melissa has organized a project list and has started ordering parts to fix everything from a broken hinge on the cockpit table, to a couple of broken hatch lift arms. Today Dave put in a new water pump. A challenge because the old water pump configuration was different and he had to completely re-plumb it. And he fixed the aft cabin fan - which was apparently installed backwards when the boat was built. So the fan didn't actually blow any air over the bed. Not exactly a safety issue, but hey, why be annoyed by it when fixing it took 5 minutes?
