Saltydog starts to get ready for the canal

This morning we hung out in the hotel waiting for Saltydog and Wanuskewin to come across the bay.  We had a great view from our room of the anchorage and marina and could watch everyone coming and going.

When Saltydog and Wanuskewin arrived, we all headed to lunch, after which it was time for Tito to deliver the tires and lines for the transit.  We piled them all in Wanuskewin's dingy.  Underneath those giant 125 foot lines are 8 tires.

Tito needed a ride for him and his crew to his boat.  Wanuskewin is thinking they will also come through the canal, and hence they negotiated a discount with Tito for their equipment to ferry the crew back and forth.  This turned into a giant fiasco because the crew didn't show up till an hour late, and Tito himself didn't show up till 3pm the next day!

Meanwhile, Dave took a look at the mechanical issues aboard Saltydog.  He thinks maybe the autopilot can be repaired and won't have to be replaced.  The water pump is dead and will have to be replaced.  The leaking through hull strainer can easily be fixed.  And the DC ammeter needs to be replaced - though Saltydog already has the replacement part.  We know what Dave will be doing the next few days!
