Melissa & Dave - Adventures at Sea

Panama City

This morning we finished the last of the "get the boat ready" chores... spraying the interior with bug spray on our way out the door.  When we got to the hotel in Panama City, Dave checked and the web camera is uploading pictures as expected so Dave can monitor the electrical systems.  At some point we must have bumped the camera slightly, but the controls he needs to see are still in the picture:

We checked into the Novotel hotel.  Its brand new, and Melissa had snagged a room for $68/night.  When Dave got to the room he thought we had probably paid $200.  Gotta love that.  We hung out at the hotel most of the afternoon as both of us were just craving some "hang out in a room that isn't moving beneath our feet" time.  Then it was off to dinner with Ramon Mouynés and his wife.  Ramon works for Zetron and for many years was in Redmond working closely with Dave as head of international sales.  They took us to a placed called Las Tinagas which is something of an institution here in Panama City.  They serve traditional Panamanian foods and they put on a dancing show with a number of regional dances.  It was interesting to see the differences between the sultry dances of the black slaves and the more reserved dances of the white settlers.
