Melissa & Dave - Adventures at Sea

Garden of the Gods

After breakfast we headed off to the "Garden of the Gods" park.  This is what we came to Colorado Springs to see.  The pictures tell the story.  The rock formations here are stunning.  Red stones thrust up through the earth into other worldly like spires.

This is known as "balancing rock" for obvious reasons.

The rock strata are amazingly colorful.

Then we headed over to the Manitou Cliff Dwellings.  In 1904 someone was smart enough to restore the cliff dwellings here.  They are fun to explore because you can climb around inside and get a real feel for what it must have been like to live here hundreds of years ago.

The grounds are nicely landscaped and there is a museum filled with pottery and other artifacts.

Then we drove around the area, stopping at Helen Hunt falls.
