Melissa & Dave - Adventures at Sea

Christmas Eve Insanity

Because we have just returned from almost a month in the San Blas Islands, provisions on the boat were super low.  So Melissa headed into Colon on the marina shuttle to go to the grocery store.  On Christmas Eve.  The parking lot was gridlocked.  As was the grocery store.  Store employees were madly trying to restock shelves but having a difficult time making their way through the throngs of people to get to the empty shelves.  Melissa managed to snag everything she needed except bacon.  No bacon to be had anywhere.  Who would have thought there would be a run on bacon in Panama for Christmas?  Maybe Christmas morning breakfast feasts?  Well, at least she managed to snag the 8 lbs of potatoes she needs for mashed potatoes for the big Christmas pot luck tomorrow night.  And the champagne and OJ.  Isn't Christmas morning without mimosas, right?  Mmmm.

Tonight we headed off to the nightly cruiser happy hour.  Everyone brings their own drinks.  Most of us drink the boxed wine called Clos.  We laughed at these cruisers who had "decanted" theirs into these classy wine containers.

And one of the cruisers makes these handy wine box cozies.  Anything to try and class up the Clos boxes.
