Making Tracks

Yesterday we got up at 7am and headed out.  We motored through more of the inside passage.  Barely a ripple on the water.  We had to choose between calling it quits at 5:30pm or going till 10:30pm as there were no anchorages in between.  But stopping would mean we can’t make Prince Rupert today.  So on we went.  You would think being underway at 10:30 pm would be dangerous.  But no, its still light out.  We made 93 miles.  Then today was much the same - underway early, and pond water the whole way.  Even when we made the open water crossing into Prince Rupert you couldn't even detect the ocean swell.  Lots of debris and deadheads in the water though so we had to keep a sharp eye out.  Today we made another 80 miles.  We plan a lay day tomorrow to work on a few boat projects.  Then Sunday the plan is for another really long day to Ketchikan!  It hit home today how close we were to being back in the US when we heard US Coast Guard on the radio.

For two 12+ hour days it was nothing but grey, and looked like this the whole time.  This isn't a black and white photo, I swear!
