Melissa & Dave - Adventures at Sea

Head for Port!

Yesterday the generator started up easy as you please.  One pull.  Thing has been running great ever since Dave replaced the carburetor.  Today.  Nada.  Not only did the generator not start, it also puked all its gas all over the deck.  Dave comes into the cabin covered in sweat, hot, and frustrated.  Those that know him well know that he has a love-hate relationship with generators.  This is yet one more chapter in the generator saga.

Dave decides to head for a marina where he can (yet again) diagnose the generator problems and have some chance at getting parts.  So we pull up anchor and head for Bremerton marina.  Never been there before, the guide books say not to pull in except precisely at slack.  Yeah.  Um.  Yeah.  We pulled in only a few minutes off slack and the current was running strong enough that Dave couldn’t land Melissa on the dock with the bow line.  (1 in 100 dockings does this happen.)  Never to get ruffled, Dave backs out of the slip to try again.  Fortunately, by now the owner of the boat in the slip next to us has come out to help, so Melissa tosses down the bow line, and we are on the dock in no time.
