Melissa & Dave - Adventures at Sea

No spare parts and no stamps?!

After yesterday’s venture back to Seattle, we were ready for a quiet day aboard the boat in Silverdale.  Dave and Melissa both worked all day – albeit remotely.  So we decide to head ashore for dinner at the Yacht Club Broiler restaurant.  They have a huge outdoor patio where the tables are spaced 10 feet apart.  And steaks with baked potatoes.  We head over to the public doc in the dingy.  Along the way Melissa has a thought – “Do we have a spare prop for the new electric dingy motor?”  Dave: “Nope”.  Melissa: “Do we know what type of wrench we need to replace the prop?”  (Thinking what belongs in the parts kit aboard the dingy).  Dave: “Nope”.  Melissa: “Do we have a spare key?”.  Dave: “Nope.  Apparently, the parts procurement department is backed up.”.  Translation = Melissa is behind the 8 ball.  Doh!  Immediately upon returning to Apsaras, Melissa ordered up all the spare parts.  Should have been done the minute we ordered the new engine!

Meanwhile, in town, we have a job after dinner – to find a stamp.  You know, the kind that you use on an actual envelope you put in the physical mail.  And we need to find a mail box.  One of those blue R2D2 looking thingies that used to be on every corner.  A guy in a truck came by once a day and collected the mail and it magically arrived across the country days later.  A week ago Dave sold his Miata, and somehow in the excitement, the guy that bought it neglected to take the title with him.  We need to mail it to him.  And an email of scanned copy won’t do.  So we need a stamp.

First stop – the Grocery Outlet near the restaurant.  Nope.  Then down the street to the gas station convenience store.  Nope.  Then the 7-11.  Nope.  Same thing everywhere, “we used to sell stamps, but we don’t anymore”.  Finally, a mile down the main street we get to the Safeway – not only do they still sell stamps, but there is a mailbox out front.  Hooray!
